Paris Fashion Week - What I Wore

Vintage coat / Vintage skirt / eBay top / Vintage hat / Doc Martens / Boutique backpack
(All vintage from Kilo Shop)

Today I headed to a few Paris Fashion Week shows and for my outfit I mixed Winter and Spring colours. I wore matching burgundy Doc Martens and hat with my pastel mint green coat and a peach coloured skirt. Yes, the skirt is actually a petticoat I guess but I'm channelling the underwear as outerwear vibe and I think it works. What do you think?

I was super jealous of all the LFW blog posts that I have read recently so I'm glad I can report from the Fashion Week of my adoptive home city! I spent the day taking street style snaps for Motel Rocks and attended the Issey Miyake show, which was amazing! Look out for blog posts on these soon!

Izzie x

Bisous, Izzie

Roses.

Vintage coat / Vintage shirt / Vintage leather shorts / Choies cut out boats / Boutique rucksack
(All vintage items from Kilo Shop)

Lewis and I have taken to going for stroll around a nice area whilst taking blog photos rather than just standing in my street, which can get a bit boring after a while. This why all these photos have different backgrounds and in my opinion this makes the photos more interesting, what do you think?

I love this rose floral shirt and I cannot get enough of shirts tucked into leather shorts. The coat, which I actually did not need because it was a glorious day, has a lovely A line shape, which is very Parisian. I also love its velvet collar, buttons and cuffs.

Izzie x

Fur, Tartan and Leather

Vintage fur gilet / Vintage tartan shirt / Vintage shorts / Choies cut out boots

This outfit combines three of my favourites from the past season, which I think really compliment each other: fur, tartan and leather. I love this oversized fluffy fur gilet and how it contrasts to the smoothness of the leather shorts. What do you think?

Pastels, Pastels, Pastels

Missguided fluffy jumper / Vintage coat / Vintage skirt / Topshop boots (old) / Rucksack from Parisian Boutique / Vintage baker boy hat
(All vintage from Kilo Shop)

Pastel colours are going to be a massive trend this Spring/Summer and I am completely on board. In fact I think it looks great wearing pastels at this time of year, as a sort of beckoning for Spring to come! This outfit features two pieces that I have been pining after for far too long. This Missguided fluffy jumper is just what I have been looking for and I am so happy to finally have found my perfect backpack!

Izzie x

Trainer Trend

Images c/o ootdmagazine and stylecarrot

Working in a vintage shop means that I am able to observe many different styles of the customers and therefore pick up on emerging trends. Over the past month I have seen many people wearing trainers with proper styled outfits. No, I am not talking about Converse or Vans but actual running trainers, the brands of choice being Nike and New Balance. The young, stylish and chic Parisians are pairing their usual black coloured outfits with bright multi-coloured trainers and I think it looks fab. It is a trend that has been seen on the catwalks recently, with the likes of Cara Delavigne sporting (geddit?!) couture trainers in Chanel’s Haute Courture show last month and Mark Fast putting his models in gold creeper trainers at London Fashion Week. It is a trend that I can definitely get on board with because I love being comfortable and stylish at the same time: it’s win win!

Izzie x

Winter florals

Vintage hat / eBay crop top / Vintage necklace / Vintage shorts / Asos shoes

After my last post exploring ways of doing outfit posts in the absence of a photographer, I came up with this idea - what do you think? I think it looks quite arty and interesting. You can tell that I'm slightly lusting for the coming Spring with this crop top and shorts combo but the colours are still very much Winter. I really loved the winter florals trend this season and these shorts are the perfect multi-seasons piece.

Leather and Lace

Doc Martens / Vintage leather shorts / Vintage lace shirt / Vintage fedora

Welcome to a different way of outfit blogging. Because of Lewis (AKA my photographer) and mine's different working schedules it often means that I can only get outfit posts shot on a weekend morning, when I usually just want to stay in bed. So, inspired by Motel Rocks and some other fashion blogs I thought I'd try outfit posts like this - they are are quick, easy and look great. This outfit combines many of my favourite things: burgundy, leather, silk and lace. Grungy with girly touches, just how I like it.

Walk in the Woods

Vintage polo neck / Topshop jeans / Topshop belt (similar here) / Vintage fedora / Vintage coat / Asos shoes / Longchamp bag

Today we went for a walk in the Bois de Boulogne in the sun. It is rare to see me in jeans even though each winter I promise myself I will wear them more. I really like this outfit, which includes a rather French looking top from my most recent daily haul from my shop. I really need to stop shopping whilst I work.

Izzie x

Golden

Vintage culottes / Topshop top (old) / Asos leather jacket (old) / Superga trainers

This is what I wore last night to see the fab band, Phoenix. I love these gold Superga trainers as they are great to wear to gigs or on a night out if you want to be comfy but still look bling (yes I did just say 'bling', haha). In fact, the standing area at the gig was full when we got there - who knew that you had to get there early enough to get a standing wristband? Not me and before the gig started I felt annoyed to be stuck in seated. It was actually great, we had a really good view and everyone around us was dancing anyway. I've been looking for a skirt like this for ages so was thrilled when I saw it in the shop where I work and the fact that it's actually culottes makes it even better.

Izzie x

What to Do in Paris on Sundays

The sun finally came out in Paris on Sunday, which was perfect because my mum was visiting. We had a lovely day so I thought I would do a post on what to do in Paris on a Sunday.

Go for a morning stroll – It doesn’t necessarily matter where as long as the sun is shining. From my flat in the third arrondissement, we walked up to République and along to Canal Saint Martin where we stopped at Chez Prune for a hot drink. Then we wandered along the Canal, watched a boat pass through the various locks and just generally soaked up the peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Canal Saint Martin is great because it is not swarming with tourists. Other great places for a morning stroll include: Montmartre, the Marais, Ile Saint Louis and anywhere along the Seine.

Eat brunch – This means something quite different to what it does in England. In France brunch is a multi-course meal starting with breakfast type foods, then lunch and dessert. On this Sunday we actually went for an untraditional brunch at bio cantine Soya. It was a vegetarian buffet consisting of salads, falafel, hummus, lasagne, rice and curries followed by mini cakes and brownies. Of course I ate too much and was so excited about the food that I forgot to take any photos until after I had eaten!

Visit a museum – A great activity for any Sunday but especially on the first Sunday of the month when many museums are free. As it was such a lovely day, we went to the Arc de Triomphe, which is the best vantage point in Paris in my opinion. From there we wandered down the Champs-Elysées and headed for the Panthéon to make the most of the free museums Sunday.

Enjoy a city park – Paris is absolutely full of amazing parks. We strolled through the Jardin des Tuileries where you could really tell that Sunday in Paris is family day. Other great parks include Jardin du Luxembourg, Jardin des Plantes and my personal favourite, Parc des Buttes Chaumont. If you fancy getting out of Paris, there is also Bois de Vincennes and Bois de Boulogne on the east and west edges of the city respectively, which are lovely for a Sunday walk.
